Let’s Talk About It

Why “Ehmsee Shane”?

My pen name is more than just a playful twist of letters—it’s a tribute.

“Ehmsee” (M.C.) is a little wink to my own name, and “Shane” is in honor of someone incredibly special. My Aunt Shane was more than an aunt—she was my sister in spirit, my teacher in life, and a champion for little learners. She was an early childhood educator who loved her students as if they were her own, and she twirled through life with the grace and flair of—well—a baton twirler, which she quite literally was!

To honor her, my publishing brand nods to her twirling days, capturing her sparkle and movement with every word I write.

From Educator to Author

The idea of writing a children’s book has danced around in my head for some time— But it wasn’t until I earned my Master’s degree, that I truly believed: I can do this.

Now, with a heart full of lessons from the classroom and a soul full of love for little learners, I’m ready to bring my stories into the world.

And guess what? I’m not doing it alone. The wonderful Sandie Sonke will be joining me, in helping the stories come to life with her wonderful strokes of her pen

Crowdfunding with Heart

Becoming an author looks different for everyone, and for me, it starts with a little help from my community.

I’ve chosen to crowdfund my very first book—because I believe in community, in connection, and in creating something together. The profits from this first book will help fund many more, so every donation is like a stepping stone toward a kinder, wiser, story-filled future.

I could have chosen the traditional publishing route—less upfront cost, sure—but that road didn’t feel right. I didn’t want to hand my stories over to someone else. I want to keep them close, with the creative freedom to add the special touches that make them mine... and affordable for the teachers and families who need them most.

So here I am, with a pen in my hand and a purpose in my heart.

The Vision

I’m not just writing a book—I’m building a library of love and learning.

1. The “Come & Gather Series”
This series is for teachers to use in the classroom—books designed to model behavior, teach life lessons, and build strong classroom communities. I named it after those magical moments when we gather on the carpet to share, learn, and grow together. And yes, the teacher in these stories? That’s Shane.

2. The “Let’s Talk Series”
This is for families at home—a collection of stories to spark conversations and guide children through big emotions and everyday experiences with warmth and wonder.

The first book—coming Spring 2026—will debut in the “Come & Gather Series.” While the title is still a closely held secret, I promise it’s a story straight from my heart. Whether it’s read in a classroom or cuddled up on a couch, it will help prepare your little one for the exciting world of school.
